PALM SHORES, Fla. — Community Credit Union of Florida has broken ground on a nearly 90,000-square-foot corporate headquarters that will accommodate as many as 400 employees as the credit union continues to expand in Brevard County, according to Florida Today.
The $1.44-billion credit union held a groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 20 for the three-story headquarters, which will be built at 5560 N. Highway 1 in Palm Shores, just south of the Pineda Causeway, Florida Today reported.
The approximately 89,600-square-foot facility is expected to open in the third quarter of 2028.
Headquarters to Accommodate Up to 400 Employees
According to Florida Today, the headquarters is intended to consolidate Community Credit Union’s operations while providing additional space for future growth.
Plans call for enough space to accommodate as many as 400 employees. The building also will include a 3,000-square-foot community meeting space, along with parking and stormwater infrastructure.
W+J Construction is serving as contractor for the project, Florida Today reported.
Investment in Future
Community Credit Union President and CEO Dan Kelley said the headquarters represents an investment in the credit union’s employees and members as well as the future of the region.
The Aug. 20 groundbreaking brought together local elected officials, community leaders and project partners.
Participants included Kelley; Lynda Weatherman, president and CEO of the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast; Brevard Public Schools Superintendent Mark Rendell; Palm Shores Mayor Charles Chambliss; and Jim Platman, chair of Community Credit Union’s board, according to Florida Today.
The ceremony also included the burial of a commemorative time capsule.
Credit Union Has Served Area Since 1953
Community Credit Union was founded in 1953 and has operated in Brevard County for more than seven decades.
The credit union said the new headquarters will provide the additional space and infrastructure needed to support its operations as it continues to grow and serve members throughout the county.
