GROTON, Conn.–CorePlus Federal Credit Union and Scient Federal Credit Union have announced the new name and brand identity for their combined organization. The merged credit union will operate as Waypoint Federal Credit Union.
The merged CU will have more than $700 million in assets.
“Waypoint is more than a new name — it’s the shared future of two credit unions that chose to build something stronger together,” CorePlus CEO Ray Currier said in a statement.“A waypoint is a trusted marker that helps you find where you are and identify where you’re headed next. That’s the role we intend to play in our members’ financial lives, at every milestone.”
The new name and branding also come with a new tagline: “Your Financial Partner for Every Milestone. Your Life. Your Goals. Your Waypoint.”

A Custom ‘W’
According to the two organizations, the new logo features a custom “W” formed by two shapes joining together, symbolizing the merger. “The design also incorporates a pathway suggesting individual financial journeys and references the waterways of eastern Connecticut,” the credit unions said. “An upward arrow integrated into the mark signals growth and progress.”
The CU Daily first reported the merger in October 2025.
“From day one, this merger of equals has been about better serving our members,” Scient FCU President Chris Maynard said in a statement. “Together we have the strength and scale to invest in technology, services, and the talented people our members rely on — while staying the local, approachable credit union our communities know.”
The new Waypoint said it plans to roll out its new name and branding beginning in late September across its website, digital banking platforms and member communications. Physical signage at branches
