DENVER– Credit Union of Denver has selected Bobby Matthis to serve as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). He was placed by DDJ Myers, the well-known executive search and leadership development firm.

His experience leading large-scale technology modernization efforts, combined with his collaborative leadership style and personal connection to our community, made him a standout candidate. Matthis brings more than 25 years of credit union technology experience to his new position, over 20 of which were in a leadership capacity. Most recently, he served as Chief Digital Officer for Blue Federal Credit Union. Throughout his career, Matthis’ leadership experience has spanned digital strategy, IT operations, cybersecurity, software engineering, business intelligence, artificial intelligence, process improvement, and enterprise project delivery. He has led high-performing teams focused on modernizing technology, simplifying systems, advancing digital banking, and creating exceptional member and employee experiences.
“Credit Union of Denver has been serving this community since 1931, and as a Lakewood kid, it’s a community I’ve been part of my whole life. That legacy is a responsibility, and my job is to make sure technology strengthens the member relationships this credit union has spent 95 years earning. Technology should adapt to those that we serve, and I’m excited to keep raising the bar together through collaboration,” says Matthis.
Matthis earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in IT Leadership along with his Bachelor of Science in Business, IT Management from Western Governors University. As a lifelong learner and self-described technology geek, he is currently pursuing an additional master’s degree in advanced software with an emphasis in AI engineering.
Matthis is a Colorado native and met his wife more than 20 years ago as credit union peers. They have four children and his family enjoys camping and visiting national parks across the country, especially the beautiful and local Rocky Mountain National Park each year.
