FRESNO, Calif.– New Sanger Unified School District teachers are starting the school year with a little extra support thanks to a partnership between Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) and the Foundation for Sanger Schools.
EECU provided each new teacher with a $150 grant, totaling nearly $9,000, to help with classroom supplies and other expenses as they begin their first year with the district. The grants were presented during Sanger Unified’s new teacher orientation.
“Supporting educators has been at the heart of EECU since we were founded more than 92 years ago,” said Elizabeth J. Dooley, EECU president and CEO. “We’re proud to welcome Sanger Unified’s newest teachers and give them something they can put to use right away as they prepare their classrooms and get ready to serve their students.”
The annual new teacher orientation gives incoming educators an opportunity to connect with district leaders, learn about available resources, and prepare for the school year. EECU partnered with the Foundation for Sanger Schools to make the grants available to this year’s new hires.
For teachers setting up a classroom for the first time, those additional expenses can quickly add up. The grants give recipients the flexibility to purchase supplies and materials based on the needs of their classrooms and students.
“Thank you EECU, I really appreciate it and I’m so thankful,” said a first-year teacher at the celebration. “I’m ready to start the great 2026-2027 school year.”
The sponsorship continues EECU’s longstanding commitment to education and educators throughout the communities it serves. Through partnerships with local schools, districts, and organizations, EECU supports programs that help educators and students throughout Central California and the Central Coast.
