Father, Daughter Recognized for a Combined 50 Years of Service at GTE Financial CU

TAMPA, Fla. — GTE Financial Credit Union is recognizing a father and daughter whose combined careers at the credit union span more than 50 years, highlighting what the organization said is its commitment to long-term employee development and member service.

According to GTE Financial, Assistant Vice President of ATM and Interactive Systems Kenny Rywant recently marked 40 years with the Tampa-based credit union, while his daughter, Emily Childers, a Fraud Analyst II, has served the organization for more than a decade.

Rywant joined GTE Financial in 1986 after graduating from Florida State University and began his career in information technology. During his four decades with the credit union, he helped oversee a number of technology initiatives, including the implementation of shared branching capabilities that allow members to conduct transactions at participating credit unions nationwide.

‘Can’t Imagine’ Working Elsewhere

“Looking back, I can’t imagine working anywhere else,” Rywant said in a statement provided by GTE Financial. “GTE has become much more than a job. It’s been my career, my community and, in many ways, my family.”

GTE Financial said Childers grew up watching her father’s career at the credit union and was inspired to join the organization more than 10 years ago. She now works as a fraud analyst, helping protect members from fraud and strengthen financial security.

‘Wanted to Follow in Footsteps’

“I saw how happy my dad was at GTE, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps,” Childers said in the statement. “His work ethic has always inspired me, and it’s been incredibly special to build my own career at the same organization that’s meant so much to our family.”

According to GTE Financial, Rywant’s tenure coincided with the credit union’s growth into one of Florida’s largest credit unions, as it expanded its technology, products and member services while continuing to invest in employees.

‘Incredible Accomplishment’

“Forty years with one organization is an incredible accomplishment and seeing Kenny’s commitment inspire Emily to build her own career here makes this story even more meaningful,” Chad Burney, GTE Financial’s senior vice president and chief information officer, said in a statement. “Our employees are the heart of everything we do, and Kenny and Emily represent the culture we’re proud to build—one where people can grow, serve their communities and create a lasting impact.”
