HOUSTON — Rice University has signed a 20-year naming rights and campus partnership agreement with First Community Credit Union, renaming its football venue First Community Stadium, the university announced Thursday.
The name takes effect this weekend when Rice hosts UTSA. The $3.07-billion First Community also becomes the official financial institution of Rice football, Rice Athletics and the Association of Rice Alumni. Financial terms were not disclosed in the announcement.
The partnership includes financial literacy education, student internships and career opportunities through Rice’s Center for Career Development according to the organizations. First Community will offer banking services and special programs for students, alumni, faculty and staff, along with Rice Athletics-branded debit and credit cards offering event access and other benefits.

Stronger Community Connections
Rice interim athletic director Eric George said the agreement supports the university’s efforts to strengthen community connections.
The stadium, opened in 1950, is scheduled for renovation through Rice’s Gateway Project, which aims to connect the campus’s west side with Rice Village.
Founded in 1954 by Spring Branch school district educators, First Community has more than 190,000 members and 14 branches serving 41 Texas counties.
