Fox Communities CU Making Major Push into Milwaukee Market

MILWAUKEE—Fox Communities Credit Union is preparing a major push into the Milwaukee market, planning to open as many as six branches over the next three years as part of a $25 million expansion, according to publicly available filings and local business reports.

The Appleton-based credit union, which holds more than $3 billion in assets and operates more than 20 branches in northeast Wisconsin, has secured regulatory approval for a new office at 12805 W. Bluemound Road in Elm Grove, a key entry point into the Milwaukee metro. The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions approved the site this spring, and Fox has begun hiring branch managers, team leads and member-services staff for the location.

First Branch in 2026

Fox’s first Milwaukee-area branch is expected to open in 2026, according to a summary of reporting shared by a Milwaukee Business Journal reporter. The credit union plans to invest approximately $25 million in the market build-out and open around six branches by 2028 or 2029.

The Bluemound Road office—positioned on the border of Brookfield and Elm Grove—is being treated internally as the flagship for the new region, according to the report.  Job postings describe the Milwaukee-area launch as a “chance to be part of our Fox future” and emphasize that the location is the first step in “expanding into the Milwaukee market.”

Strategic Expansion

Fox Communities already serves Milwaukee, Waukesha and surrounding counties under the credit union’s existing field of membership, but has lacked a physical presence in the region. The planned branch network marks the credit union’s first substantial move beyond its long-established Fox Valley and Green Bay footprint, reports added.

The credit union has not publicly announced specific neighborhoods or timelines for the additional branches.
