LITTLETON, Mass.–— Hanscom Federal Credit Union has named Johan Seo, Esq. as its new Chief Legal Officer. Seo will lead and have enterprise accountability for legal and risk across the credit union, ensuring strong governance, disciplined compliance execution, and sound legal risk management to support strategic growth, innovation, and member trust.

“We are excited to welcome Johan to Hanscom FCU,” said Peter Rice, President and CEO of Hanscom FCU. “Johan stood out throughout the interview process for his judgment, discipline and steady approach to leadership. His service in the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment brings a perspective that reflects many of the members we serve, and that connection matters as we continue to grow and support our communities.”
Seo brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to Hanscom. He began his career as an attorney and served in the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment, an experience that shaped his leadership philosophy, resilience, and commitment to mission‑driven execution.
Most recently, he served as Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel at Workers Federal Credit Union, where he led enterprise risk, legal, compliance, and information security, and advised the Board and executive leadership on governance, strategic initiatives, and M&A activity.
Prior to his credit union leadership, Seo held senior executive roles across banking and financial services, including serving as Deputy Chief Risk Officer at East West Bancorp and as a Director within the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where he led supervision of large financial institutions and contributed to system-wide policy development.
“Johan’s leadership reflects the MITIE values that guide our organization, “ added Rice. “His commitment to integrity is evident in his approach to governance and regulatory oversight. He builds strong, cross-functional teams that reflect our focus on teamwork, and his experience developing risk and compliance frameworks supports innovation as we grow and evolve.
