TAMPA, Fla.—GTE Financial Credit Union has launched a limited-time promotion offering new and existing members their choice of an official Tampa Bay Lightning jersey or $150 in cash when they open a qualifying new checking account.
The credit union, which is one of Florida’s largest and serves as the official credit union of the Tampa Bay Lightning, said the promotion begins Oct. 15 and runs through Jan. 31, 2027.
According to GTE Financial, the promotion is designed to build on its longstanding partnership with the NHL franchise while providing additional financial benefits to members.
“This promotion is a fun way for us to celebrate Tampa Bay’s passion for the Lightning while giving our members something of real value,” said Jennifer Maxfield, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at GTE Financial. “Whether they choose the jersey or the cash, we want to reward members for choosing GTE and help them get more from their everyday banking.”
How to Qualify
GTE Financial said both new and existing members are eligible for the promotion, provided they meet the following requirements:
- Open a new GTE consumer checking account between Oct. 15, 2026, and Jan. 31, 2027.
- Provide an active and accurate email address.
- Enter the promotional code BOLTS26 when applying online or at a GTE Financial location.
- Establish a qualifying direct deposit of at least $750 into the new checking account.
Once all requirements have been satisfied, qualifying members will receive an email with instructions for selecting either the Lightning jersey or the $150 cash reward, the credit union said.
Additional Lightning-Themed Benefit
GTE Financial said members who open a qualifying checking account can also receive a Tampa Bay Lightning Bolts Debit Card, allowing fans to display their support for the team when making everyday purchases.
The credit union noted that attending professional hockey games can involve substantial expenses, including tickets, parking, concessions and merchandise. It said the promotion is intended to provide fans with an opportunity to receive an additional benefit while managing their everyday finances.
According to GTE Financial, the promotion is part of its continuing efforts to leverage its relationship with the Lightning to provide special experiences, financial incentives and other benefits to members throughout the Tampa Bay community.
