LSCU & Affiliates Adds Office of Small CUs

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A new Office of Small Credit Unions has been created by the League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, which represents CUs in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.

According to the League, the Office of Small Credit Unions, a dedicated resource hub designed to empower and support credit unions with assets of $150 million and under. “This tailored initiative underscores The League’s commitment to fostering growth and sustainability for small credit unions, ensuring they have the resources they need to serve their communities effectively,” the League said in a statement.

The Leadership

Leading the initiative will be Susan Lee, a seasoned industry expert with more than 15 years of experience, including three years as a credit union CEO. The League said Lee’s extensive background with financial institutions and dedication to small credit unions make her the ideal leader for this initiative.

“Small credit unions are the backbone of their communities, providing personalized financial services and fostering local economic growth,” Samantha Beeler, president of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, said in a statement. “With the launch of the Office of Small Credit Unions, we are taking a significant step forward in ensuring these institutions have the tools and support they need to be a reliable resource within their communities.”

The Resources

According to the League, the Office of Small Credit Unions offers a variety of resources tailored to meet the unique needs of small credit unions, including:

  • Online Trainings: Comprehensive educational opportunities to strengthen teams.
  • One-on-One Consultations: Tailored guidance to address specific challenges.
  • Online Community: A platform for collaboration and idea-sharing among peers.
  • Connection Opportunities: Events throughout the year for networking and knowledge exchange with leaders from similarly sized credit unions.

“I’ve seen firsthand the incredible impact small credit unions have on their members and communities,” said Lee in a statement. “Our goal is to provide opportunities for small credit unions, who otherwise wouldn’t have the solutions needed to promote growth and sustainability.”
