ALEXANDRIA, Va.–The Metropolitan Area Credit Union Management Association (MACUMA) will be hosting a live lending webinar today titled, “Lending is Dead: Long Live Lending.”
The webinar begins at 11 a.m. E.T. and is the first of a two-part series.
“The lending landscape has changed, but many of the assumptions, policies, and practices that shape credit union lending have not changed with it.” MACUMA said. “Members increasingly begin their borrowing journey somewhere else, drawn by experiences that are faster, easier, and built around what they are trying to accomplish rather than the product they are trying to buy.

“In this provocative session, Joseph Brancucci challenges lenders to reconsider where lending begins, what makes a credit union compelling, and what happens when institutions rely on third parties to create relationships they once created themselves,” the organization continued. “Through stories, examples, and three fundamental shifts—from product to purpose, policy to possibility, and control to empowerment—the session explores how credit unions can reclaim their place at the beginning of the member’s financial journey.
“The challenge is not simply to make more loans. It is to build a lending organization people intentionally choose.”
