BALTIMORE — MECU Credit Union is marking its 90th anniversary with a 90-day initiative focused on employee volunteerism and charitable giving across Baltimore.
The credit union said its “90 Days of Community” campaign began in late August and will continue through November, with employees participating in volunteer projects and MECU making contributions to local organizations.
The initiative began with MECU employees volunteering at partner schools, where they welcomed students returning for the first day of classes.
MECU said the activity reflects its longstanding focus on supporting families, education and community partnerships.

“Ninety years in a community is an honor and a privilege,” President and CEO John Hamilton said. “It means being invited into people’s lives, earning their trust and walking with them through every chapter.”
Hamilton said the anniversary provides an opportunity for the credit union to recognize its relationship with the Baltimore community through service.
More Volunteer Projects, Donations Planned
MECU was founded in 1936 and is using the anniversary initiative to highlight its history of community involvement.
Throughout the 90-day campaign, employees will participate in additional volunteer projects across Baltimore, while the credit union will make charitable contributions to organizations serving local communities.
“Giving back is part of who we’ve been for 90 years,” said Timothy Rozalski, vice president of marketing. “During these 90 Days of Community, we’re proud to celebrate the people and neighborhoods working every day to make Baltimore a stronger place to live and thrive.”
MECU said additional charitable donations and employee volunteer opportunities are planned through November.
