Members of SecurCommunity FCU Complain of Account Access Issues as Conversion is Underway

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dozens of SecurCommunity Federal Credit Union members say they have been unable to use debit cards, write checks or check balances online for three days as the credit union converts to a new online banking system.

Fox13 News reported a line of frustrated members stretching around the room at the credit union’s Sycamore View Road branch. The institution was previously known as Shelby County Federal Credit Union, according to the report.

Nadolyn Dunigan, who told FOX13 she served on the credit union’s board for nine years, said she had never experienced such problems in 32 years.

“I have never seen it like this,” she told the station.

Member Renea Shelton told FOX13 her cards stopped working Monday. Another member, a Shelby County employee who asked not to be identified because his office prohibits him from speaking to the media, said his card was declined at a restaurant.

Many Shelby County employees belong to the credit union, FOX13 reported.

CU Cites System Conversion

In a social media post cited by the station, SecurCommunity said it was converting to a new online banking system and acknowledged that some members were experiencing problems accessing online banking.

“We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition,” the credit union said in the post.

The $88.5-million credit union urged members who continued to have difficulties after following enrollment instructions to contact it for assistance.

FOX13 said it attempted to speak with someone at the branch and sought comment by email and telephone. The station reported that its call rang for 23 minutes before disconnecting.
