WASHINGTON—America’s Credit Unions has launched a membership vote seeking approval to officially change its corporate name and move its legal domicile from Wisconsin to the District of Columbia, marking what the organization said is the final legal step in completing the merger of its predecessor organizations
Member credit union CEOs have until 5 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 14 to cast their ballots.
According to America’s Credit Unions, the proposed changes would formalize corporate actions that have remained pending since the merger of its legacy organizations. The organization said both the name change and relocation of its domicile were approved by the former boards of directors when they signed the letter of intent to merge.
‘Significant Progress’ in Unification
“When our credit union members voted to create America’s Credit Unions more than two years ago, it reaffirmed the importance of having a strong voice in Washington, D.C. We’ve made significant progress in unifying our organization and this name and domicile vote is a final legal step to formalize what our members voted for,” Board Chair Karen Harbin said in a statement released by the trade association.
America’s Credit Unions said the membership vote is being administered by Intelliscan Inc., an independent vote tabulation management company. Balloting instructions are being sent to member CEOs via email from [email protected], and the organization encouraged recipients to add the address to their safe-sender lists and check spam folders if they do not receive the message.
