ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Minnesota Credit Union Network has named Brent Rempe, president and CEO of First Alliance Credit Union, as its 2026 Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year, recognizing his leadership and commitment to expanding financial access across southeast Minnesota.

According to MnCUN, the award was presented during the MnCUN ACCELERATE ’26 Conference held April 28 at the Mystic Lake Center. The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” through leadership, service and efforts to advance financial well-being.

“MnCUN is pleased to honor Brent Rempe for his contributions to the Minnesota credit union movement and his exceptional leadership,” MnCUN President and CEO Mara Humphrey said in a statement.

MnCUN said that under Rempe’s leadership, First Alliance Credit Union expanded its field of membership from five counties to 14 counties across southeast Minnesota and launched a full-service mobile branch designed to bring financial services and guidance to underserved and rural communities.

‘Reflects Entire Team’

“This recognition reflects the work of our entire team and the trust our members place in us,” Rempe said in a statement. “We’re focused on showing up for people in meaningful ways and continuing to improve how financial services fit into everyday life.”

According to MnCUN, First Alliance Credit Union was founded in 1932 during the Great Depression by local residents, including a schoolteacher and seven firefighters, who sought to support one another financially. The credit union said it continues to emphasize keeping money local through support for families, businesses and community development.

MnCUN also cited the credit union’s internal culture initiatives, including its All-Staff Training Day program, which focuses on empathy and understanding the financial challenges members face.

“This honor reflects the commitment of many people working together to serve our members well,” Jane Drennan, chair of the First Alliance Credit Union board of directors, said in a statement. “It speaks to the collective effort of our team and our shared focus on our mission.”
