HELENA, Mont. — Montana’s Credit Unions has announced a series of leadership changes to its board of directors, naming new board members and making other appointments as part of what the organization described as a strategic succession plan.
The trade association said Shiloh Smeltzer, president and CEO of Badlands Federal Credit Union, has been appointed as a full member of the board of directors, succeeding Tom Boos, the retiring president and CEO of Billings Federal Credit Union.
According to Montana’s Credit Unions, Smeltzer’s experience and commitment to the organization’s mission will help provide continuity in board leadership.
The appointment created a vacancy among the board’s associate members, and the board invited Denise Anderson, president and CEO of NorthWestern Energy Employees Federal Credit Union, to serve in that role.
In addition, Casey Klein, president and CEO of Valley Credit Union, has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the board.
‘Incredibly Honored’
“I’m incredibly honored to be selected to the Montana Credit Union Board of Directors and to help advance the long-standing impact credit unions have throughout Montana and the region,” Klein said in a statement released by Montana’s Credit Unions.
Park Side Credit Union President and CEO and MCU Board Chair Travis McLean welcomed Klein’s appointment, saying he has long appreciated Klein’s engagement with the organization.
“We look forward to having Casey join Montana’s Credit Unions Board of Directors,” McLean said. “I have appreciated his respectful and thoughtful approach when asking questions of the board and will look to tap into that curiosity even further as a new board member.”
A ‘Deep Bench’
MCU President and CEO Gerry Singleton said the organization benefits from a strong pipeline of leadership. “We are fortunate to have a deep bench of capable leaders ready to step into new roles, ensuring stability and positioning the organization for continued success.”
Montana’s Credit Unions said the board transitions position the organization to continue executing its strategic priorities while delivering value to member credit unions and the communities they serve.
