EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon Community Credit Union, PeaceHealth and the OCCU Foundation have launched Partners for Health, a partnership aimed at expanding access to health care, financial education and community resources in Lane County and beyond, according to the credit union.
The initiative formalizes a longstanding relationship among the organizations and will coordinate their teams to expand community-based programs supporting physical health and financial stability, OCCU said.
“PeaceHealth has been a trusted collaborator for many years, and this partnership builds on that work,” said Greg Schumacher, OCCU’s president and CEO. “Partners for Health brings together two steadfast Oregon organizations with deep roots in the communities we serve.”

Schumacher said combining the organizations’ strengths will help support caregivers, credit union members, employees and patients through resources, education and services addressing physical and financial well-being.
Previous collaborations have included support for Children’s Miracle Network, expanded child life specialist services, the Telestroke Program, health care workforce development, heart health initiatives and financial education for caregivers, according to OCCU.
‘A True Partner’
“OCCU has been a true partner in every sense of the word, from supporting patient projects and expanding care across our shared region to serving on our foundation boards and investing directly in our caregivers,” said Jennifer Svihus, chief philanthropy officer for PeaceHealth Oregon. “We’re excited to continue working alongside OCCU to increase our investments in community health and wellness.”
Recent joint efforts include a Teen Health Screening and Teen Health Expo at North Eugene High School, where students received free heart checks and health education. The organizations also supported the purchase of 39 automated external defibrillators for Oregon State Police vehicles serving Lane County and collaborated on volunteer activities connected to the Eugene Marathon.
PeaceHealth also will serve as presenting sponsor of the upcoming OCCU Foundation Golf Classic, which raises money for local health, education and other community needs, the credit union said.
