RADCLIFF, Ky.– The Opportunities Abound Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization established by Abound Credit Union in 2025, recently won the statewide Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility and Community Service.
The Foundation was established to address two of the most significant barriers facing Kentucky families today: the rising cost of housing and the increasing expense of post-secondary education. By investing in these critical areas, Abound is helping individuals and families build stronger financial futures while creating more vibrant communities.

Through direct investments in affordable housing and education, the Foundation is helping Kentuckians overcome financial obstacles and build brighter futures.”
Recognizing that homeownership is often the foundation of generational wealth and financial stability, Abound launched the Foundation’s Affordable Housing Grant Program. To commemorate its 75th anniversary in 2025, the Credit Union Board of Directors approved a $75,000 contribution to fund fifteen $5,000 grants for first-time homebuyers.
The grants assisted eligible borrowers with down payment and closing costs, helping remove financial barriers that often prevent families from achieving homeownership. Offered on a first-come, first-served basis, the program worked directly through Abound Mortgage Lending Officers to identify qualified applicants and connect them with this critical assistance.
The Foundation also continues Abound’s long-standing commitment to education through the Howard Roush Memorial Scholarship Program. Established more than 40 years ago by longtime Board Member and Veteran Howard Roush, the scholarship has helped hundreds of young members pursue higher education. In 2025, Abound enhanced the program’s impact by transitioning to renewable scholarships. Ten exceptional students were selected to receive $2,500 annually for up to four years, allowing each recipient to earn up to $10,000 toward their educational expenses.
