DUBLIN, Calif. — Patelco Credit Union is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a $90,000 sweepstakes for members and $25,000 in grants to Northern California nonprofit organizations.
The credit union said it will accept member nominations of local nonprofits during October and November. The Community Impact Grants will support organizations working in financial education, food security, children’s health and development, and affordable housing.
An employee panel will select the recipients after nominations close. Two nonprofits will receive $5,000 each in Anchor Grants, while another $15,000 will be divided among additional honorees. Patelco said it will announce the recipients Dec. 1, Giving Tuesday.
“For 90 years, Patelco has been rooted in the credit union spirit of people helping people,” SVP-Marketing Rina Johnson said in a statement. “This anniversary is a chance to honor that legacy by celebrating our members, giving back in meaningful ways, and investing in the local organizations helping our communities thrive.”
$9,000 Grand Prize
The anniversary sweepstakes will award one $9,000 grand prize and 900 prizes of $90 each, totaling $90,000, according to Patelco. The credit union said the smaller prizes are intended to help members with everyday expenses, including gas and groceries.
Members will be automatically entered, with eligible checking, savings, money market and retirement accounts, certificates, credit cards, loans, mortgages and home equity products each counting toward entries. Members enrolled in electronic statements can receive an additional bonus entry, Patelco said.
New members may also earn entries by opening eligible accounts. Patelco said a free alternative method of entry is available to anyone.
