Premier America CU Gives High Schoolers a Bite of Reality

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.  –  Premier America Credit Union hosted a Bite of Reality session at Agoura High School as the school year came to a close.

Over the course of six interactive sessions, 355 students stepped into the role of working adults, navigating real-world financial choices in a hands-on environment.

Designed to build financial confidence, Bite of Reality gives teens a glimpse into adulting through budgeting challenges, spending decisions, and life’s unexpected curveballs, the credit union said, adding that from managing student loan payments to deciding between a new car or public transit, students made money choices that mirror everyday life—all within a supportive, educational setting.

‘Incredible Event’

“Bite of Reality has been such an incredible event for our Agoura students,” Jessica Stein, College & Career Advisor at Agoura High School, said in a statement. “Giving them an early understanding of financial responsibility and budgeting allows us to prepare them for success in the future and have a deeper understanding of life after high school. Premier America has been such a wonderful partner in that mission, and we hope to continue giving students this fun, educational opportunity in the future.”

The event was part of Premier America’s ongoing commitment to financial education in local communities, the CU said. As students explored topics like credit, savings, and cost of living, they were guided by team members from Premier America and the school community, creating a fun, judgement-free space for learning.

Podcast Launched

Earlier this year, Premier America released their first podcast, aptly named, “The Launch,” which is a weekly show designed for parents and kids of all ages to listen together on Saturday mornings and learn basic financial wellness tips.

The hosts, Frankie and Alfredo, share their personal stories and end each show with a shared activity to extend the learning for listeners, according to the credit union.

The show is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube and can be found at PremierAmerica.com/Youth.
