GLASGOW, Scotland–It isn’t just credit unions in the U.S. that are entering into sponsorships with professional sports teams.
Scotwest Credit Union said it has become an official sponsor of Celtic FC Women.

“This new agreement heralds a partnership focused on meaningful impact far beyond the pitch,” the credit union said in a statement. “Scotwest will work closely with Celtic FC Women and Celtic FC Foundation to promote financial inclusion, resilience and wellbeing for supporters and families while also supporting a range of local community outreach initiatives.”
The credit union added that the partnership reinforces its commitment to improving lives across the west of Scotland by offering access to “fair, ethical and affordable financial services, including savings accounts and personal loans. As a member-owned financial co-operative, Scotwest exists to serve its members — not shareholders — and believes that financial wellbeing is key to healthy, thriving communities.”
In collaboration with Celtic FC Women, Scotwest said it will also provide its members and fans with opportunities to give back directly to their communities through local project support and financial education initiatives aligned with the values of Celtic FC.
‘Incredibly Proud’
“We are incredibly proud to join forces with Celtic FC Women. This partnership is about a shared commitment to helping people across our communities thrive,” Scotwest Credit Union CEO Frances McCann said in a statement. “Through this collaboration, we will work to support financial stability and wellbeing by making fair and affordable financial services accessible to all, while also supporting the grassroots work Celtic FC Women are doing to enhance the lives of families in the areas we serve.”
The credit union said details around member events, community projects and financial wellbeing workshops will be announced in the coming months.
The credit union has approximately 47,000 members.
