SECU-Maryland Becomes ‘Preferred Credit Union Partner’ of the Coppermine Community

BALTIMORE– State Employees Credit Union of Maryland (SECU MD) said it has been named “Preferred Credit Union Partner” of the Coppermine community. According to the organization, Coppermine is Maryland’s “largest and most prestigious destination for youth sports, active-lifestyle adults, and families, with 19 facilities offering social, athletic, and fitness programming.”

The deal was announced by BASE Sports Group.

“The collaboration will deliver financial education resources, on-site activations, and integrated digital content to thousands of athletes, families, and staff across Coppermine’s portfolio statewide. Designed to create meaningful community impact while driving measurable membership growth, the partnership establishes a year-round platform for engagement,” the organization said. “SECU’s investment reflects a shared commitment to empowering families through accessible financial education and community-driven support.”

As part of the partnership, SECU said it will launch a special community promotion in which one eligible family that opens a new account during the partnership period will be selected to win a free season of Summer Camp at Coppermine for their child. Additional opportunities to enter will also be available through select community events and voluntary email sign-ups connected to partnership activations.

‘On-Site Activations’

In addition, according to the organizations on-site activations throughout the year will take place across Coppermine’s premier properties and events, including NFL Flag Football programming, summer camps, and the annual Cascade Lights holiday event. In addition, SECU will provide quarterly financial wellness content, host webinars for families and staff, and participate in community-focused events, creating consistent, high-impact touchpoints across both physical and digital channels.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Coppermine to expand our presence within such a highly engaged, community-focused environment that will have a great impact on holistic wellness for so many families. Financial wellness, much like physical wellness, is crucial to ensuring Marylanders at every age and every stage of life are happy, healthy and fulfilled,” Toby Smith, EVP, chief relationship officer at SECU, said in a statement. “And youth sports– especially in Maryland– are at the center of so many families’ lives, and this partnership allows us to connect with them in meaningful ways while providing valuable financial education and support.”

SECU said its members can take advantage of the new partnership and sign up through the credit union’s Virtual Financial Center. For more information, please visit secumd.org or gocoppermine.com.
