PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Service Credit Union has become a founding partner of Folds of Honor New England and will fund annual educational scholarships for the families of first responders across the region.
The partnership makes Service Credit Union a founding partner alongside Dane Street and AON and is intended to expand scholarship opportunities for the spouses and children of law enforcement officers, firefighters and other public safety personnel, according to Folds of Honor.
Under the agreement, the scholarships will honor first responders represented by several public safety organizations the credit union serves, including the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire, Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Coalition of Police, the State Police Association of Massachusetts and the New Hampshire State Troopers Association, the organization said.
‘Show Up Every Day’
“First responders show up for our communities every day, often in the most difficult moments, and we believe their families deserve to feel that same level of support in return,” Jaime Yates, assistant vice president of community development at Service Credit Union, said in a statement. “This partnership with Folds of Honor New England allows us to take our commitment beyond words and turn it into meaningful, lasting action.”
Founded in 1957, Service Credit Union is headquartered in New Hampshire and serves more than 350,000 members through branches across New England and on U.S. military installations overseas. The credit union has long focused on serving military personnel, veterans, first responders and their families.
About Folds of Honor
Folds of Honor, a nonprofit organization founded in 2007, provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of U.S. military members who were killed or disabled in service. In 2022, the organization expanded its mission to include the families of fallen or disabled first responders.
According to Folds of Honor, the partnership with Service Credit Union represents one of the organization’s largest commitments since the New England chapter was established in May 2024.

For the 2025-26 academic year, Folds of Honor New England awarded 14 scholarships to members of first responder families. The organization said the new partnership will enable it to increase the number of scholarships available throughout the region.
Folds of Honor said its scholarships can be used for private school tuition, college, trade and technical schools, graduate education and certain professional certification programs. Since its founding, the organization said it has awarded nearly 73,000 scholarships totaling more than $340 million nationwide.
