Suspect in Potential CU Robbery on Christmas Eve Fled Scene in Vehicle (Not Sleigh) Partially Wrapped in Holiday Paper

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a financial institution in southeast Colorado Springs on Christmas Eve in which a suspect fled in a vehicle partially wrapped in holiday paper.

According to police, incident occurred just before noon Dec. 24 at a business in the 3100 block of Jetwing Drive, near Hancock Expressway. Authorities said the location appears to be a branch of Ent Credit Union.

Police said  an employee or security guard noticed the suspect approaching the building and locked the doors before the person could enter, thwarting the attempted robbery.

The suspect was described as wearing painter’s coveralls, a mask and gloves. After being unable to gain entry, the individual fled the area in a black SUV that was partially covered in red and white wrapping paper, police said.

Officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to the scene, and the department’s Robbery Unit is leading the investigation.

As of Dec. 26, no arrests had been made. Police did not report any injuries.
