PASADENA, Calif. — Pasadena Federal Credit Union became Paseo Credit Union on Oct. 1, adopting a name it said reflects its growth and expanded service area across the San Gabriel Valley and neighboring Los Angeles communities.
The credit union, headquartered in Monrovia, has more than $380 million in assets and serves more than 25,000 members.
Founded in 1935 by a small group of city of Pasadena employees, the institution expanded membership eligibility through a community charter in 2023 and merged with Pasadena Service Federal Credit Union in 2024, it reported.

Its service area now stretches from Glendale to West Covina and south through Bell Gardens and Huntington Park.
“Our story started in Pasadena, and Pasadena will always be part of who we are,” said James Chang, president and CEO. “But our members have grown and changed along with this region, and so have we. Paseo reflects the broader community we serve and where we’re headed together, while honoring the relationships and values that have always defined us.”
A Name Reflecting Growth
The credit union said it sought a name that represented its broader membership while preserving the local relationships developed over generations. Paseo evokes a shared journey and connections between people and places, according to the announcement.
The change comes as residents and businesses continue to reshape the region and the credit union’s membership and service area expand, the institution said.
Accounts and Services Unchanged
The credit union told members the rebranding does not involve a merger, acquisition or change to banking systems, the credit union said.
The credit union’s website is now paseocu.org. Updated branding will appear gradually at branches and on materials, meaning members may continue to encounter the Pasadena Federal Credit Union name during the transition. Branch celebrations also are planned.
“Paseo isn’t about leaving our history behind. It’s about building on it,” Chang said in a statement. “We’ll keep growing, keep investing in the communities we call home, and keep our members at the center of everything we do.”
