AKRON, Ohio — 7 17 Credit Union and the Akron RubberDucks will host union members, their families and labor leaders from across Northeast Ohio tonight for an event recognizing organized labor and its contributions to the state’s economy and communities.
The 7 17 Credit Union Celebration of Labor will be held Sept. 4 at 7 17 Credit Union Park in downtown Akron in conjunction with the RubberDucks’ game against the Richmond Flying Squirrels.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:17 p.m.
7 17 Credit Union said complimentary tickets have been made available to labor union members and their families. Attendees also will receive a voucher for a complimentary hot dog and soda.
Labor Leaders Expected to Attend
The credit union said it expects strong attendance from local and statewide labor organizations, including the AFL-CIO, Laborers’ International Union of North America, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Ohio Education Association and United Auto Workers.
The event is intended to recognize organized labor’s role in building communities and supporting Ohio’s economy while bringing working families together for an evening of baseball and other activities, according to 7 17 Credit Union.
One attendee also will win a 2026 Ram 1500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4 provided by Fred Martin Superstore. The winner will be announced after the game and must be present to win, the credit union said.
Ties to Organized Labor
The event reflects 7 17 Credit Union’s own ties to organized labor. The credit union traces its roots to 1957, when it began as a single branch serving members of IUE Local 717 Packard Electric in Warren.
7 17 Credit Union said it has since grown to more than 130,000 members and 15 branches across Trumbull, Mahoning, Geauga, Portage, Stark and Summit counties. Membership is open to anyone in Ohio.
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. Their 2026 home schedule at 7 17 Credit Union Park runs through Sept. 6.
