WASHINGTON–The Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) said Travis Credit Union, which serves Travis Air Force Base in California, and Otero Federal Credit Union, which serves Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, have been selected by the Department of the Air Force as the 2025 Air Force Distinguished Credit Union of the Year.

All submissions from banks and credit unions were received and carefully reviewed by the United States Air Force Installations Command, Department of the U.S. Air Force, for consideration, DCUC said.
“We are proud to congratulate both Travis Credit Union and Otero Federal Credit Union on receiving this distinguished recognition from the Department of the Air Force,” Anthony Hernandez, DCUC president/CEO, Ret. U.S. Air Force Colonel, said in a statement. “Their dedication to supporting our nation’s airmen, veterans, and military communities reflects the very best of the defense credit union movement and the profound impact credit unions have in strengthening financial readiness for those who serve.”

On-Base Fis are Recognized
DCUC noted that annually, the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Financial Management and Comptroller) recognizes the on-base financial institutions (bank and credit union) that provided exceptional service to our Air Force community during the preceding calendar year. These awards are based on recommendations submitted by installation Commanders. Nominations for credit unions will be accepted in two separate sub-categories: those institutions with total assets of $1B and above and those with less than $1B.
