‘Trysh’ Olson of Wings Financial, Chair of CUFEN, Dies in Auto Accident

APPLE VALLEY, Minn.– Patricia “Trysh” Olson, 49, manager of youth and education programs at Wings Financial Credit Union, along with her husband, Peter F. Olson, 68, were killed in an auto accident.

Trysh Olson was also chair of the Credit Union Financial Education Network (CUFEN).

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 28-year-old man who may have been under the influence of alcohol was driving a 2016 Ram 1500 the wrong way on Highway 56 when he hit the Olsons’ 2019 GMC Terrain head-on.

The pickup driver was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash report notes the Olsons were properly restrained with seatbelts.

According to Trysh Olson’s LinkedIn profile, she joined the credit union in 2002 and held several positions, including as collections manager.

‘Rebuilding’ Lives
“I was given a great opportunity at Wings to change gears and teach financial literacy to our members and our community,” Olson said in a post. “I currently spend most of my time in the Twin Cities Metro Area schools working directly with teachers to teach our youth about the importance of good financial habits. In addition, I work with community outreach programs to help the underserved, underemployed and those starting over to rebuild their financial lives.”
