Two Credit Unions in Jersey Patch Deals With University Sports Teams

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Two credit unions have announced new jersey patch deals with university athletic programs.

In Kentucky, University of Louisville Athletics and L&N Federal Credit Union have expanded their partnership to include jersey patch sponsorships for UofL Men’s and Women’s Basketball for the 2026-27 season.

This now makes L&NFCU the official jersey patch sponsor for Louisville football, volleyball, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball. As the CU Daily reported earlier, the football and volleyball programs previously inked a jersey patch agreement in the fall of this year.

The logo of the $2.7-bilion L&N FCU is appearing on the upper right chest of each program’s jerseys. L&N already holds the naming rights to the home venues for football and volleyball.

Expanded Agreement in New Mexico

Separately, in Albuquerque, N.M., University of New Mexico Athletics and the Nusenda Credit Union have announced an extension of their partnership to include a uniform patch that will be worn by the Lobos’ 2026-27 winter and spring sports teams.

The announcement was made during Monday’s unveiling of the organization’s new signage at “The Pit – Powered by Nusenda.” The Pit is the university’s home arena.

According to the organizations, the agreement marks Lobo Athletics’ first-ever uniform patch, and debuted Nov. 2 when the UNM men’s basketball team squared off against Utah Tech in The Pit – Powered by Nusenda.

The event also celebrated the launch of new officially licensed UNM and Lobo Athletic debit cards, available exclusively at Nusenda. The branded debit cards, available with either the Lobo shield or Lobo script, are now available at Nusenda branches throughout the region, the organizations said.

“Our student-athletes carry the pride of New Mexico every time they put on a Lobo uniform, and we are thrilled to have a partner who shares that pride,” UNM President Dr. Steve Goldstein said in a statement. “For more than 40 years, Nusenda has stood with this University, and we are deeply grateful for its continued investment in our student-athletes and in the future of Lobo Athletics.”

The naming of The Pit represents the most visible expression of a relationship that began in 1985 and has seen Nusenda invest more than $8 million into university initiatives, including the UNM Center for Financial Capability, UNM Rainforest and Innovate ABQ, the UNM Wireless Project, the Nusenda Lobo Landing branch in the Student Union Building, and other philanthropic commitments to UNM Hospital and Popejoy Hall, the organizations said.

New NCUA Rule

The NCAA Division I Cabinet approved commercial uniform patches in January, with the new policy taking effect Aug. 1. Schools may display as many as two additional commercial logos during preseason and regular-season competition. Each logo is limited to four square inches.
