ASHEVILLE, N.C.—UNC Asheville Athletics and Champion Credit Union have extended their partnership through a multiyear agreement naming the Western North Carolina financial cooperative the official credit union of Bulldog Athletics, the organizations said.
Champion Credit Union, entering its fifth season as a UNC Asheville Athletics partner, will continue to receive prominent signage at Kimmel Arena and the university’s baseball, soccer and volleyball facilities.
The credit union also will continue sponsoring the “Dunk for Dollars” initiative during men’s basketball games. Under the program, Champion will contribute $25 to the Bulldog Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund for every slam dunk recorded during the season.
‘Same Core Values’
“Champion Credit Union consistently displays the same core values that exemplify Bulldog Athletics: upholding integrity, commitment to community and passion for service,” UNC Asheville Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone said. “It’s through these values that we determine our partners, and we are proud to continue connecting our fans, students, faculty and staff to the CCU brand.”
Champion President and CEO Jake Robinson said the partnership reflects the credit union’s commitment to investing in Western North Carolina institutions.
“UNC Asheville is an important part of our community, and we’re proud to support the university and its athletics program,” Robinson said. “We believe in investing in the students, athletes and organizations that help make Western North Carolina stronger.”
Founded in 1932, Champion Credit Union serves more than 36,000 members and has more than $550 million in assets. The community-chartered credit union serves residents of nine Western North Carolina counties.
