MODESTO, Calif.–Valley First Credit Union said it reinforced its commitment to employee well-being and community connection by hosting Pet the Stress Away, a workplace wellness event at its corporate office in partnership with Country Road Rescue, a local animal rescue organization.
The event invited employees to take a meaningful pause during the workday to relax, connect with colleagues, and spend time with adoptable dogs — creating moments of joy, stress relief, and shared purpose. Held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Orangeburg office, the experience reflected Valley First’s belief that caring for its people goes hand-in-hand with supporting the communities it serves.
“The Pet the Stress Away event was such a highlight,” shared one employee. “Getting to snuggle with puppies while spending quality time with colleagues was a great reminder of how Valley First prioritizes employee experience and well-being in such a meaningful way.”

Another employee added, “This event was a great way to connect with a local rescue and bring awareness to the need for fostering and adopting. It was a refreshing change of pace from the typical workday and a great way to find fellow animal lovers here at Valley First.”
Holistic View
At Valley First, employee wellness is viewed holistically — supporting mental health, work-life balance, and authentic connection, while creating opportunities for teams to engage with causes that matter locally.
“Our people are at the heart of everything we do,” said Kathryn Davis, President and CEO of Valley First Credit Union. “When we create space for our employees to recharge, connect, and give back, it strengthens our culture and our impact. Partnering with organizations like Country Road Rescue allows us to care for our team while supporting the community we’re proud to be part of.”
