MARTINSVILLE, Va.–ValleyStar Credit Union said it is donating $20,000 and expanding its partnership with Patrick & Henry Community College to launch the Financial Fundamentals Program.
According to the credit union, the comprehensive free service it provides is a financial education initiative aiming to provide the entire P&HCC student body with essential financial knowledge and skills as well as incentivize students to take proactive steps toward financial literacy.

“Building on a successful program initially offered to P&HCC student-athletes last year, the expanded collaboration now ensures all students have access to vital resources to confidently manage their finances and build a robust financial future,” ValleyStar said.
‘Thrilled to Contribute’
To support this initiative, ValleyStar Credit Union is donating $20,000 to the P&HCC Foundation to enhance financial literacy resources and bolster student success initiatives.
“We are thrilled to contribute positively to this community,” CEO Mike Warrell said in a statement. “Education is one of our core pillars and ensuring today’s youth have a strong financial foundation is incredibly important to us. This partnership allows us to equip students with real-life financial skills that will benefit them long after graduation.”
