JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — VyStar Credit Union has opened a volunteer resource center at Feeding Northeast Florida as part of an initiative aimed at expanding volunteer participation in hunger-relief efforts in the region.
The VyStar Volunteer Resource Center opened Friday as the credit union marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the National Day of Service and Remembrance.
The event also launched VyStar’s fifth annual “Good is everywhere Week,” which brings together credit union employees, members and corporate partners for volunteer projects across Florida and Georgia, ActionNewsJax reported.

The new space at Feeding Northeast Florida is intended to increase year-round volunteer participation and support the food bank’s hunger-relief programs.
The city of Jacksonville also issued a proclamation recognizing Good is everywhere Week.
Employees, Partners Pack Food
During Friday’s event, VyStar employees joined representatives from FIS, One Call, Regency Centers and Mayo Clinic to sort and pack food for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
“As we celebrate Good is everywhere, we are reminded that the most meaningful impact happens when people come together in service of others,” said Patricia McElroy, VyStar senior vice president and foundation president.
McElroy said the new center will provide an ongoing opportunity for volunteers to support Feeding Northeast Florida.
Susan King, president and CEO of Feeding Northeast Florida, said volunteers play a critical role in the food bank’s operations.
“Volunteers are essential to our mission,” King said. “The VyStar Volunteer Resource Center will enhance the volunteer experience and help us welcome even more individuals and organizations who want to make a difference in the fight against hunger.”
