MADISON, Wis.–The World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) will host a webinar titled “Breaking Down the Global Regulatory Challenges of 2025” on March 19. The webinar will begin at 10 a.m. EST.
“With a vast amount of regulatory uncertainty resulting from an unprecedented number of newly elected officials taking office across the globe and an International Year of Cooperatives’ mission to fulfill—2025 will be a critical year for credit union advocacy worldwide,” WOCCU said.

‘Divergent Messages’
It noted that will be the “overriding theme” of its 2025 Global Regulatory Update, which “stresses how divergent messages relating to whether previously held financial laws will be honored or revoked, and how global leaders embrace or reject international standards will impact the regulatory landscape this year and beyond.”
The agenda will include discussion of:
- Digitalization and Developing Technologies
- Climate-related Financial Risks
- Strengthening Individual Frameworks
The Discussion Hosts
The discussion will be led by Paul Andrews, VP-international advocacy with WOCCU, and Erin O’Hern, international advocacy and regulatory counsel with WOCCU.
