SCAPPOOSE, Ore.–Wauna Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative serving Northwest Oregon since 1967, is building a new full-service branch at 51432 SE 2nd Street in Scappoose, Ore.
The new branch facility marks a significant investment in the community and reflects Wauna Credit Union’s continued mission to expand access to affordable financial services throughout Columbia County.
A ceremonial groundbreaking event brought together Wauna Credit Union leadership, local officials, South Columbia County Chamber of Commerce representatives, and local business leaders to celebrate the milestone. Primary construction on the building is scheduled to begin next week.

“Our cooperative exists to serve our members and to help them build their financial well-being…” said Robert Blumberg, CEO & President of Wauna Credit Union, “I’m excited to get this project underway. Building here in Scappoose will help us to become the financial institution that our members choose first, use the most, and grow with throughout their lives.”
The new Scappoose branch is expected to open in 2027 and will replace WCU’s
existing branch in Scappoose. It will offer a full range of services, including:
• Personal and business checking and savings accounts
• Auto, home, personal, and business lending
• Free financial education workshops for members and the public
• Video teller machines and drive-through banking
“We believe that when people have the tools to succeed, our communities become stronger. That’s why we’re building here in Scappoose, and that’s what the credit union difference looks like,” said Willow Oelke, AVP of community engagement “We’re grateful to be part of this community, and we look forward to serving our neighbors for many years to come.”
This relocation is part of Wauna Credit Union’s focus on serving members across Oregon communities increasingly underserved by large financial corporations, following a branch relocation in Astoria in 2022 and anew location in Forest Grove in 2019.
