Here’s Why One CU Has Launched a ‘Banking on You’ Podcast

O’FALLON, Mo.–West Community Credit Union has launched a podcast in which Josh Rodriguez, its AVP of fintech and mission Integration, serves as host.

“The Banking on You Podcast is the first of its kind in the credit union podcast space and possibly the financial services industry,” the credit union said.

According to West Community CU, rather than following the interview format of traditional podcasts, the credit union has chosen to zero in on telling compelling audio stories. This includes member stories, community focused stories, stories from employees, and more that grab attention and reflect the mission of not just West Community, but the entire credit union industry, it said.

‘Not Great at Telling Story’

“Credit unions do amazing work, and many lives are being changed daily through our efforts. Unfortunately, we have never been great at telling our story,” Rodriguez said in a statement. “Banking on You, along with other active efforts across the industry, is poised to change the trajectory of credit union storytelling.”

Added President/CEO Jason Peach in a statement, “In banking, there’s a lot of push for efficiencies. Mega-banks put you in a box and group people together as broadly as they can. We found that to serve all our members and their diverse backgrounds and needs, we had to understand their personal story, which is integrated into our mission and our culture.”

Rodriguez added, “So it made sense that when we decided to launch a podcast, we’d include storytelling at its heart. It’s part of our mission and our vision. Banking on You will be a natural extension of what we are and what we love doing.”

Part of ‘Mission’

West Community CU said the Banking on You name also came about as part of its mission, as “Banking on You” has been its tagline for about a decade.

“We developed the Banking on You tagline because we truly bank on our members success,” said VP of Marketing and Digital Experience Koren Greubel in a statement. “We bank on them having a better financial journey. We bank on their bright futures, and how we can help them get there.”Season One launches throughout the first half of 2025. Season Two is tentatively scheduled to debut in late 2025.
