DENVER– Seeking to share the season’s joy with the community, Westerra Credit Union (Westerra) said it will host its second annual “Deck the Hallways” initiative – a program that provides scholastic support to Colorado school districts.
From Dec. 1-19 the credit union will donate $100 to Title 1 schools in the Denver Metro Area each time a Smart Money Checking or Money Market Select account is opened by new members.
The credit union will also gift each new member with a $100 deposit as a thank you for helping local schools.
After last year’s success, Westerra said it intends to once again distribute $10,000 to Title 1 schools. The effort continues the credit union’s legacy – that dates back to Westerra’s founding by schoolteachers in 1934 – by keeping support for teachers and local schools at the heart of its mission, it said.
“Deck the Hallways embodies the magic of the holiday season,” COO Annelise Elrod said in a statement. “At Westerra, our goal is to give back to the community, especially our educators and members, in any way we can. Deck the Hallways reminds us that even the smallest acts of giving can make a big difference, and we look forward to the success of this year’s program.”
As a thank you to existing members, Westerra Credit Union said its Refer a Friend program awards a $100 gift card for every eligible new member referral from Nov. 30 to Dec. 31.
